KEEPER OF THE FLAME is book 7 in the Dragon Knights serial. I take been enjoying this series quite a bit. There's a lot that D'Arc infuses into this series that takes dragons onto a whole other level. The worldbuilding is unique and executed well and the writing is ever stellar. KEEPER OF THE FLAME is book 7 in the Dragon Knights series. I have been enjoying this series quite a chip. In that location's a lot that D'Arc infuses into this series that takes dragons onto a whole other level. The worldbuilding is unique and executed well and the writing is always stellar. However, for this particular book, I find myself conflicted.
I'1000 torn on this volume. The reasons why I loved the other books in the series are the same reasons why I didn't bask this book and then much. I felt that the same equation was practical to this book every bit the writer has done with all the others and the results are the same. This book felt likewise similar in way to the others in the serial that nix felt new to me as a loyal reader. That being said, I found that I got tired of this one easily.
That is not to say that the writer tried to bring something different to the series. For example, the heroine is a Flame Keeper, the first nosotros've seen in the series. The gryphon is introduced and while I was initially intrigued by this concept, I plant that the integration of this species seemed translucent and not fully formed. The author wanted or peradventure needed something unique to the story, then she added gryphons merely it didn't resonate with me because it'southward become such a trend in the series. Whenever there is a rare species or a rare ability, either the hero or heroine has the ability or stems from that unknown species. As a result, it has get anticipated and no longer new and entertaining after 7 books.
The same goes for the romance. It's a textbook romance and while I was very pleased with the way the author was able to integrate threesomes in the series, the romances have been merely mediocre as of late.
And so y'all can see why I'one thousand a little conflicted. Much of what I enjoyed near this serial is yet very much present in this volume. But later 7 books, I'k looking for something unlike and new. The predictable plot lines and textbook romances aren't doing it for me anymore and I need something new and fresh to have away from information technology all.

YAY! Bianc D'Arc has come back to the Dragons!! In a sensual game of espionage, passion, a political coup and shapeshifting characters Ms D'Arc delights once again. Keeper of the Flame is the seventh volume in her Dragon Knights Serial, each more wonderful than the last!!Draconia is fighting for the world's survival. Slowly they have been gathering allies, adamant to go along those that want to command the world (or their pocket-size function in it) for their ain purposes, unremarkably evil ones.. To get together information it was decided that Prince Hugh be sent to get together information on the land of Helios. Hugh is so not the likely pick being that he is the largest of the royal brothers. Makes information technology rather difficult to be inconspicuous only the Seers claim he would be the all-time choice.t
Hugh, Prince of Draconia is third in line for the thrown and has admittedly no desire to rule. He is a warrior through and through.. More than a bit confused as to why he has been called to gather information, he all the same willing goes to Helios. The needs of his family and country e'er come first. No sooner had he set foot in the country when the storms hit, making the world a rather miserable place to be when not indoors. Nevertheless, he must be out to gather the data he needs. Walking in the frigid downpour, he senses someone post-obit him. Non too worried because he does not discern danger just yet ane tin not exist as well careful. Finally catching up with the individual who is following him, he finds a babe gryphon, A Gryphlet. Cast out of the nest because she was born unlike, the babe is cold, hungry and emotionally struggling and Hugh existence the kind of human being who understands that all creatures are equal, takes her in. Beginning the true dearest story in this book. Seriously, I completely and totally vicious in honey with young Miss (brusque for the slang misborn).
Hugh manages to get Miss back to the Inn where he is staying and finds allies who aid him care for and hide the darling.. still these are locals and they understand their responsibility to country and they send for a mysterious woman.
Valeria, Queen of Helios, Keeper of the Flame, comes to the pocket-size tavern to gather some information of her ain. She needs to observe out if this new gryphlet is condom and to offer her sanctuary in the palace. No sooner had she begin to settle into conversation with Hugh, when they were told that assassins were shut and looking for her. With no other manner to become, she is forced to put her life into the hands of this strange man.. Imagine her surprise when he shifts to a dragon and flies the three of them to safety.
As they search for a identify to land, they discover that all is not every bit information technology seems at the palace so they go into hiding Betrayed by family, they are not sure who they can trust and who they can't so they decide to trust only each other.. and slowly decide on who else they should trust with their very lives.
This volume is a picayune fleck different from the other Dragon Knights books. This is more than a sensual delight than the erotic sexuality found in the other books in this series. These two practise a trip the light fantastic of desire that slowly ignites.. A wonderful slip into sensuality. Information technology also had a cast of characters that were more than or less new to the story. Nosotros come across a few of our favorites but Hugh has never been seen in the previous books and the twins that we get to chat with are not the twins from Dragon Storm. It is fun to encounter the rest of the family get some activeness..
I seriously enjoyed this volume and am thrilled to meet that Ms D'Arc had chosen to proceed it. There is and so much going on, so many exciting subplots and then many more stories to tell.. An excellent book and series that must be explored.. but I volition warn y'all, this serial in full general is extremely erotic and has some very interesting scenes that steam up the pages.

Keeper of the Flame is the seventh book in Bianca D'Arc'southward Dragon Knights serial, and the first new book in a few years.
Prince Hugh of Draconia is a long manner from home because a seer convinces his blood brother, the male monarch, that Hugh should journey to Helios posing every bit a elementary traveler, to run into if he can find whether Helios is still an ally to Draconia, and do so without exposing his inner dragon. Prince Hugh of Draconia is a long way from domicile because a seer convinces his brother, the king, that Hugh should journey to Helios posing as a simple traveler, to see if he can discover whether Helios is all the same an marry to Draconia, and do and so without exposing his inner dragon. The seer has said he needs to meet with the Doge of Helios, the ruler of that distant state, to see whether at that place may be crusade for alarm. Every bit third in line to the throne, Hugh is more than warrior than spy, and so he tries to keep his cover as honest as possible.
When he suddenly finds a young, abandoned gryphon, Hugh is determined to protect her from harm, considering he believes she has seen too much hurt already. As he cares for her, he finds allies in the innkeeper where he has lodgings, and the innkeeper'due south young son. When a mysterious highborn lady comes to the inn, Hugh believes she is there to take Miss, and he is determined to keep her safety. But things aren't as they appear, and soon Hugh, the Lady and Miss are forced to get on the run, avoiding assassins and intrigue, and a plot to kill the Lady, Valeria. What Hugh doesn't know, is Lera is the Doge, and also his mate. As the danger continues to build, Lera realizes there are traitors wishing her damage, including a member of her ain family. In the centre of the drama, Hugh realizes that he is destined to stay with Lera in Helios, and they continue to grow closer to each other and to Miss, the petty gryphlet Hugh rescued. As the extent of the treachery continues to grow, Hugh is relieved when his twin brothers and a pair of dragon knights, along with an emissary from Gryffid, the wizard, arrive to assist with the defence force of Lera and Miss, and the throne of Helios. Tin Hugh, Lera and Miss survive the many attempts by the evil Eyes (master assassins), all the while forging bonds that will stand up the examination of time and more? Will the fire Lera wields strengthen Hugh's hold on her center? Tin these iii survive to form the family the and then badly desire?
The characters in this are also crafted and intriguing as those that came before, and I enjoyed meeting some new members of the royal family, and catching up on news from familiar old friends too. I love that Ms. D'Arc is beginning to expand the world of the Dragon Knights, taking us to the lands where gryphons rule the skies, and dragons are not seen, at least non until Hugh shows up.
Valeria is the Doge, or queen, of Helios, and also the Keeper of the Flame, the most sacred position in the land. I dear her force, her determination and her fairness. In spite of the danger, and the injure that the traitor who hired the assassins is family, she fights aslope Hugh to defend the throne, because she knows that to neglect is to doom herself, and her people. And in spite of her fright, she has backbone and yet there is a vulnerability that seeps through, keeping her from existence too difficult. I liked that she trusted Hugh, believing him to be just a homo, and I was delighted when she took his dragon side totally in step.
Prince Hugh of Draconia is stiff, handsome and protective of those who trust in him. When Miss, the abandoned gryphlet, and so Lera are in danger, Hugh steps up and keeps them all safe. I enjoyed watching every bit Hugh and Lera gave in to the allure edifice between them, and Hugh'southward conclusion that he would not be returning to his blood brother's courtroom. Hugh begins to believe that his coming together Valeria, and finding she is his mate, is part of what the seer predicted to his brother. I loved that Hugh was able to let Lera be stiff, and not try to continue her from what she needed to do.
There are many converging threads in this story of treachery, expose and danger. There is also love, passion and laughter, and the joy of watching as a youngster learns she has worth, in spite of her hard ancestry. I love the baby gryphlet, Miss, and her growing attachment to 'Hoo'. She is a potent grapheme as well, learning that she has worth to those who truly care for her, and I was absolutely delighted when Hugh and Lera formally adopt her. As with all of Ms. D'Arc's Dragon Knights books, there is lots of steamy hot sex in some unusual places. I loved seeing Hugh and Lera attempt to find ways to be together, while notwithstanding trying to go along their actions from piddling Miss. There is a large cast of characters here, and although not all have major roles, everyone contributes to this in some manner. I have missed this world, filled with fantasy and passion, and I welcome Ms. D'Arc's Dragon Knights back for more adventures. I await forward to more stories in this world, but be warned; this one is as hot every bit a dragon'south flaming breath at times.

Latest in the 'Dragon Knights' series, this tale introduces gryphons... these winged large cats live in cliffside caves. But one abandoned youngling is following agent Hugh around town in the sleet. Attracted by his magical heat, little Miss is sad only Hugh, masquerading as an ordinary trader in this foreign country, gets her warm and fed. She'southward barely able to talk withal but she needs a friend. The endearing kitten is soon the source of tavern rumour and a lady who is KEEPER OF THE FLAME arrives to audit the state of affairs.
Assassins stalk the nighttime and fleeing, the Keeper and Hugh run into further danger, when the dragon shapeshifter needs help from his little gryphon friend. Lera the Keeper has her own innate magic and her relief at being safe, plus finding a like talent, draws her to Hugh in a tender, very passionate romance. Only the hired Eyes may still be out to get her, and she doesn't know who in palace circles she tin trust.
Halfway the story becomes more tightly linked in to the earlier books so a cognition of the affairs of various countries and magicians would be a assist. One time we become into the political discussions and suddenly countless cast listing from before books, the standalone element is lost and someone new to the series would be swamped, which is why I didn't give this more stars. Bianca D'Arc has been creating a complex world filled with magical beings and ordinary folks; palaces, temples and inns. While dragonish folk like flames, gryphons are afraid of burn down, with their fur and oiled wing feathers. The disparity makes for some distrust and compromises among the characters.
I really enjoyed the descriptions of the winged cat-girl and her behaviour. Many earlier Dragon Knight characters render in this book which takes off in a different direction but retains the activity, romance and intrigue we have come to expect.

So, I've enjoyed this series, but this book was not ane that really stood out to me in said series. While I sympathise that the Goddess plays a role in helping true honey mates detect each other and realize they're a love match right away, in this book the two chief characters simply... Well, they didn't accept the same spark as a couple that several of the couples in other books take had.
